2nd October 2006

In the early hours of Monday 2nd October, the Old School (at the junction of Main Street and Edinburgh Road) was seriously damaged by fire. The building was last used as a school over 20 years ago, was Stodart the joiner's workshop for a time and has been disused recently. Apparently work had just begun on a plan to convert the premises to town houses and flats. Your correspondent managed to get a few snaps of this event at 4.30am. A further look the next evening shows the central 2-storey block less damaged but the surrounding single storey parts seem gutted. |
